Log Cabins and a Giveaway!

Log Cabins!

Aren’t they so fun? I live in one so I am a little biased:)

I bought this quilt kit from Fat Quarter Shop HERE and am slowly working my way through these blocks.

The fabric line used is Smitten by Bonnie and Camille for MODA Fabrics.

Log Cabin blocks are not super quick, but do look awesome when your done.

I just love these sweet fabrics.

This will be the first entire quilt I have made with just log cabin blocks.

It finishes at 80 x 80. Wowza, its a big one!

Leave me a comment if you have ever made a Log Cabin Quilt!

A winner will be chosen to receive this super cute box that the kit came in!

Each comment is an entry.

     Good Luck guys!

  1. The first three quilts I made were Log Cabin quilts from quilt in a Day. I actually learned the technique from Eleanor Burns herself at a class. To this day I love log cabin designs and I plan to make this quilt soon.

My first log cabin quilt was made two years ago from a Bonnie Hunter pattern, so it included an alternate block also. I have a couple other LC quilts on my bucket list. You are right–they are time consuming, but the results are fantastic!

  10. My very first quilt was a log cabin. It has been my favorite block ever since.

I’ve made large log cabin blocks for a quilt for our bed – the finished quilt will be about 125″x125″ with the borders. I love the blocks, and I can’t wait to get it finished. Thanks for the giveaway!

Yes i have. Love how easy the pattern is

  14. That is so pretty!
Yes, I have made a log cabin. It’s king size. I pieced it on the machine, and quilted it by hand in 4 sections. Then I sewed those together, and quilted down the seams. It is probably around 1998 that I finished it. It has held up really well!

  15. Karen George says:

My very first quilt I ever made was a log cabin bedspread, I was over zealous. I made that over 30 years ago and my daughter has laid claim to it. I love the pattern and farbic of the quilt you have and am ready to do another. Would love to win.

  16. barbara woods says:

made one for my son and daughter in love

  17. Brenda Niedermayer says:

I love this. I’ve done a runner based in a log cabin but never a whole quilt. This will be beautiful!

  18. Lisa Marie says:

I love log cabin quilts and the one you are making is a very pretty one! I’ve made lots of log cabin quilts and each one is different from the last. That’s the wonderful thing about log cabin blocks, they can be varied almost endlessly. Plus they are great for scraps, which is good by me.

  19. Kathy Harris says:

I remember starting a log cabin quilt when I first started quilting in the 70’s. It never got finished and got lost somewhere moving across the country twice early in our marriage. I have another one planned and need to find time to really get to it. Too many things to try and charity quilts to finish for our guild charities.

  20. The first quilt i made was a log cabin block quilt for my mother in law! I loved making it and it is my favorite block still! Very pretty quilt! I love how you can vary the blocks!

  21. Kathy E. says:

This is going to be a really beautiful quilt! I have made only a few Log Cabin blocks, just enough to make a table topper. I remember them being time consuming, but so satisfying when done! Someday, I’d like to make a huge quilt of Log Cabin blocks! duchick at gmail dot com

  22. Sarah Hisle says:

I am new to sewing and quilting! Love it but I haven’t made a log cabin quilt yet,. Hoping to start one this summer!

  23. Linda Edwards says:

I made one many years ago (in the 90s). I think the pattern is very versatile.

  24. I have only made a few log cabin blocks, for sampler quilts. But I bought this pattern and want to make a big log cabin quilt someday!

  25. Anja @ Anja Quilts says:

I have made a few log cabin blocks. And I have a very, very old WIP of log cabins. Probably should dig that out and finish. LOL
