I spent this weekend catching up on some of my Sugar Blocks!
The one above is the Febuary block called Explore. This one really got on my nerves! If I had enough fabric I would probably redo it. You may be able to see some distortion…I was trying to press it into submission:) Well, the block won. It should finish at 12.5″, but it is 12″. I am going to just make do and leave it. I suspect that do to a lot of seams that I slowly ate up a little seam allowance here and there and it caught up to me. If I have to I can border it and then square it up to the proper size.
This block is called Mercy.
This one I thought would be harder, but it wasn’t! I think I could have used more contrast in the star points….more red. As I grow as a quilter I am trying not to over analyze everything and just keep moving forward. Less ripping, more stitching. So this one will stay as it is too!
Now to finishing April’s block and I will be back on track.

I love Baby Jane. I have most of a fat eighth bundle left after another project, and I keep wanting to buy more of it but I can never decide which prints or how much, so I haven’t yet. I’m hoarding what I have left until i find a perfect project. It makes your blocks look gorgeous!
I love the colours you chose for the March block. I have both March and April in progress, then back to triangles…
really like the explore block, not seen it before. will do a search on google to see if I can track it down. triangle rows joined up but one or two bits need redoing before I add a photo!

Lovin’ that Mercy block! It reminds me of the Granny Square, but with a little flair. Both your blocks are looking good. Lovely fabric choices!

Hi, love the sugar blocks, and yes those pinwheels can be tricky….I found that when a pattern calls for a piece 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 I just cut it at 3 x 4 and trim after making the pinwheel,,,, and those star points they look really fussy……
Less ripping, more stitching! I feel like we all need to have that sign hanging in our sewing room sometimes :-)

Lovely blocks! I didn’t sign up for Sugar Block this year – still need to finish a couple from last year…so glad you shared the binding tutorial. I didn’t cut my edges straight initially then I started second guessing myself and was going to go ahead and cut since I had no idea how to do the binding….now I don’t have that excuse!
What pretty blocks! There was a time I ripped & ripped every time I wasn’t thrilled with every little detail of my work. Not anymore, I’ve learned to let it go and move on. That is unless it’s a bad goof.
Love your blocks Paula! I haven’t done the paper pieced block yet, I have been waiting to work myself up to it! haha! :) Love how they both turned out! :)
