MillstoneSmall

~Week 4~

Just a few more days till the New Year begins and I just want to thank everyone who has visited The Sassy Quilter and made my year the best one yet!

I am enjoying some time off between the holidays to wrap up some projects before 2014. Here is whats on my design wall right now…

These were leftover HST’s from a chevron quilt(below) that I made earlier this year. You can see in the pic above I have several quilt tops hanging around my sewing room that seriously need to be quilted…2014 for those. I will be happy if I can at least finish up these quilt tops for now!

Here is another I finished up….my Virtual Quilting Bee quilt top! Finally got those borders on there.

  1. Ah I really can’t wait to get the holidays and New Year celebrations behind us to just get back into my sewing room to quilt – at this stage absolutely ANYTHING. I’ve just received Homestyle Quilts by Kim Diehl and Laurie Baker, so it will probably be something from this lovely book. All the best for 2014 to you and your family.

  2. Happy Quilty New Year! I am really looking forward to seeing your KONA project. We are sharing the same big reveal date! Your HST and Triangle quilt tops are sweet! Good luck on your fabric diet, Paula!

  3. Somehow I always end up with a bunch of BOM blocks that need to be turned into quilts in December, and then the holidays happen. So this year I would like to get those quilts assembled BEFORE spring!

  4. I would love to just finish something – anything!

  5. Melissa Greenfield says:

Find great deals on fabric, build my stash and quilt on! Thank you Paula, your blog is a big help!

  6. All of your quilts are beautiful and the fabrics you’ve used are lovely! I’m recovering from an injury that has kept me out of the sewing room since October. I can’t wait to finish the eye spy quilt for my grandnephew (just have to baste and quilt it), and finish an improv log cabin that I’m working on.

  7. Love your projects! In 2014, I want to focus on learning new skills and getting out of my comfort zone. :-)

  8. ohhhhh, I love the one on your wall! Very cool! My plan is simple – no new projects until the ones on my list are finished. I have lots of stuff in place for those projects so I should just do them right??

(If I should happen to win, feel free to pass it along to a second winner. Can’t add to the pile! :) )

  9. Fabricfast for me as well! But my goal is to figure out a work schedule that works for me and my family’s schedule :)

  10. Your Virtual Quilting Bee top turned out just gorgeous!! I love it!
As for what i would like to accomplish in the new year…i definitely need to quilt some of the thousands of quilt tops i have laying around!!

  11. Cheryl Watson says:

I want to learn new techniques and quilt with more people. So I’ve joined a few quilt alongs and BOMs and one bee to expand my horizons. Hopefully, this will also keep me on track and finish all those projects this year.

  12. Make a Christmas quilt for each of my immediate family members……..I’ve been “collecting” the fabric for years!

  13. M.Elena Ramirez says:

Thank you for your gifts. I would love to be able to make many many quilts in the new year. My plan is to quilt every day. Have a wonderful 2014. Txs.

  14. Fabric fast? No way! :-)

Love the charm pack; and of course I really NEED those aurifil threads! ;-)

  15. Alice Ronne says:

I am going on a much-needed fabric diet also. My change in taste(think juvenile prints bought when my plans to make quilts for my little ones (who have grown in to awesome young adults!) were at the top of my list and the desire to volunteer will be the drive to make quilt donations for our local hospital and hospice care organization.

  16. Cynthia Knapp says:

My plan for the first quarter of the year is to finish my daughter’s quilt.

  17. A challenge to myself to use my stash without buying new fabric. At least for 3 months. I know it’s impractical to believe I can go all year long without any new fabric purchases. A girl has to have a little spice in her life now and then, eh?

  18. One of my goal is make several Dear Jane blocks, quilting ( I`m handquilter), at least one of my tops and doing little projects. and of course learn more about quilting.

    Have a fabulous New Year!!

  19. I need to finish quilting 5 or 6 tops I have completed so I can start some new projects.
Thanks for the chance to win. Happy New Year!

  20. Suzanne McFadden says:

Uh, the log cabin quilt I promised my parents for their 50th birthday – 3 years ago! Heavy sigh . . . . :)

  21. My main goal for 2014 is to set my fear in the corner, and leave it there – lol, and start quilting all the beautiful tops I have made and get them finished! I keep telling myself everyone starts somewhere and if they can do it, so can I!

  22. I seriously need to learn not to start new projects before others are finished… Oops, did it again!!!
    :-)
I wish you a happy New Year too!
    Esther

  23. I want to make zippy pouches next year. Zippers will be a new skill for me.

  24. I hope to complete one ufo for every new project I start. This will take real discipline. Happy New Year.

  25. I’m not buying any fabric until my birthday!!! I want to make a ‘retro flowers’ quilt from my stash!

  26. Brenda Hulsey says:

I’m like you and probably all quilters out there. I have a lot of tops to quilt and finish. I also want to use of a lot of my fabrics. Here’s to us and our old and new projects!

  27. Mission: get all tops basted. Maybe then I will be more likely to pick up and quilt..and make 2 of the same block each month so in dec I have a few samplers ready to go!

  28. I should say a fabric diet, but I know myself better so I will say I should be pickier about what I buy. And I want to finish a quilt i have had in my pile for over 2 years. It is definitely time to decide on what to do with the back.

  29. My New Years resolution is to reduce my scrap piles. I have maybe 10 big boxes of blocks and strips (banker’s boxes) that are taking up too much space in the family room, even when stacked up to the ceiling. So I need to make a serious effort to turn these into charity quilts. I’ve started over this vacation, turning 2.0″, 2.5″, 3.0″, 3.5″ strips into LONG pieces for 1600 quitls on steroids (where you use a jelly roll). The mixing of the strip sizes gives a nice look to the quilt tops. My goal – 50 quilt tops for my local hospice organization in 2014 (I just gave them 100 completed lap quilts between Sept and December this past year).

  30. Quilting Tangent says:

Learn to quilt my 1st top.

  31. I really want to stop being a big baby and lean to piece so curves! I have never tryed but would really love to make a pop flower quilt!
    Thanks for the chance!

    BLESSED NEW YEAR!

  33. You are such a busy bee! I have four quilts on my mental list for 2014. Happy New Year! :)

  34. QuiltinGram says:

I am like you…want to deal with UFO’s and create from my stash. Just need to put sewing area back together (had to move some of it for holiday quests) and get at it!

  35. I hope to reduce the number of wips around here. I could probably sew all year on just projects I have started. We shall see how far I get! Have a fun new year!!

I want to make a king size quilt for my parents! Wish you a Happy New Year!

  38. I have a quilt top that I’m working on — I’m only about 3% done with the squares. I want to finish the squares by the end of April…..

  39. Gidget Shenefield says:

Clean out my sewing room and then use jelly rolls to make another big star quilt for myself.

  40. I have 3 quilts & 3 wall hangings that are WIP that I will finally finish. They will be 2014 Christmas Gifts, and they will get done early. Not going play that catch-up game in 2014. And then I will be getting ready to move my sewing room upstairs to the bigger spare room. But first I have to sell the bedroom set that is up there, :) Oh and lastly, I need to tackle my stash also. Preferably before the big move. And thanks for the chance to win some fabulous stuff

  41. In 2014 I plan on finishing my very first quilt. I’ve always wanted one and finally decided to just make one.

  42. Bonnie Pfrimmer says:

I want to finish Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt!! I have a habit of getting stuck and not finishing a project. I am determined to finish this…Plus I want to get better at machine quilting. Thank you for sharing your quilts!! They are awesome..

  43. Kathy Davis says:

I plan on making a quilt for the local Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser again this year. Thanks, Kathy

  57. I would really like to work on my FMQing! Can’t wait to get started on my Polaroid Quilt too!

  58. Ohhhh I have a long list, but a Swoon quilt is definitely on it

  59. I just made a blog post with my sewing goals for 2014, but one that I forgot to put on there is to make my first log cabin blogs – I want to make a large placemat sized project, using mini cabins – to go under my new tea pot in the kitchen. Happy New Year!

  60. I’m going to go totally against the flow and announce that I plan to buy more fabric in 2014! ;) I’ve never been able to afford much designer quality fabric until now, but I recently opened an Etsy shop and I’m starting to make a profit. All this fabric fasting going on in blogland must mean more for me, right? Ah well, I will still have to be plenty conservative I’m sure. First up – new quilts for my twin boys to use when they make the switch to toddler beds!

  61. Kelly Williams says:

  65. I have three quilt tops that I would like to actually get quilted and bound this year. I have been putting them off in favor of smaller projects.

  66. No new fabric purchases until I have sewn all the already cut and ready to go projects then I can buy fabric, I figure it will be June or July. But by then I will be very choosy about what I buy and what it is for. Happy New Year and thank you.

  67. I have 2 quilts I need to finish and a crocheted blanket UFO. I want to avoid starting new projects until I get some of the older ones finished.

  68. I have many “quilty” things I would like to accomplish in 2014 but the one I want to do the most is a quilt for my own bed. I have made many but none for my bed.
